Tinnitus
People
suffering from tinnitus should consult an ear, nose and throat specialist
(ENT)
(otolaryngologist) and an audiologist for diagnosis. Thus ear and cerebral
diseases can be
excluded. Treatment resulting of the diagnosis varies individually and
depends on the
situation and the health care system of each country and it will differ
according to the fact
of fresh or chronic tinnitus.
EUTi
is open to all tinnitus-patients. One of EUTi’s aims is to inform about
recent methods of diagnosis and treatment which are available in all countries.
Additional information will be
provided by EUTi on hyperacusis and Menière’s disease, both important
phenomena that may accompany tinnitus. Medical care mostly has to deal
with chronic tinnitus (symptoms for six
month or more). Recently chronic tinnitus is treated by teams made up
of an ear, nose and
throat specialist, a psychotherapist and an audiologist who cooperate
in working out a
therapy.
Support
groups are of special value. They should be able to offer intense and
competent
counseling to tinnitus-affected persons. EUTi is about to organize this
in several European countries.
EUTi
is a non-profit organization supported by a number of generous sponsors.
They are
companies and firms such as Audimed München, Resound, Phonak… Up to now
there have
been no subsidies from EU. The board of EUTi makes an effort to obtain
financial aids of the European Union. May we ask for your assistance to
back up the European initiative of support
of tinnitus-patients.

Your representative’s address will be available behind the flag of the
respective country. Your representative is in contact with EUTi-board
and president. The further development of EUTi
is one of the topics at the Board’s meetings held twice a year. Matters
of discussion are as
well the distribution of money and the support of some countries.
